About us

Why we made this guide

We spend a lot of our time in Thailand, and much of it with locals. Over the years we've watched visitors pay far more than they need to, almost always to the same places: airport exchange counters, banks, tourist SIM desks and packaged tours.

Most of what's in the guide we learned from the people who live there. They know exactly where tourists overpay, and they're usually happy to tell you.

What we believe

We're not here to squeeze locals

We'll never tell you to haggle a food stall down by 10 ฿. The savings we write about come from big businesses that charge tourists more because they can.

Every price has a date

Thailand changes quickly. Every figure in the guide carries the date we last checked it, and if we haven't rechecked something recently, we say so.

We pay our own way

No free stays in exchange for reviews. If a link earns us a commission, it's labelled next to the link. Our affiliate policy has the details.

Cheapest isn't always best

Sometimes the extra 200 ฿ buys you two hours back. When it does, we'll tell you to spend it.

Why the guide isn't free

Charging £14.99 for the guide means we don't depend on sponsored posts or paid placements. It also pays for the time it takes to keep every price current.
